Settings and options of the picture question type
Display in X Columns
Here you can specify the number of columns in which the images will be displayed (between 1 and 6 columns).
The fewer columns you select, the more space each image will have in the questionnaire.
Only one answer allowed
If this option is enabled, the participant may select only one answer.
Answer Condition: Number of Answers
With this setting, you can specify the maximum, minimum, or exact number of answers a participant may or must select.
Label
You can add an additional label for each image.
Required question
This option makes the question required. The participant must answer it before proceeding to the next page of the survey.
Help Icon (Tooltip)
Here you can place help text or additional information behind a help icon next to the question title.
Randomize
When enabled, the answer choices are displayed in random order for each participant.
Additional text field below the question
This option allows you to provide a text field next to the answer choices where the respondent can provide additional information. You can choose any width for the text field.
“No Answer” Option
This option is useful if the question is defined as required. It allows participants to skip the question without providing an answer and continue with the survey.
Internal Value
The internal value allows you to replace participants’ answers with any numerical values during an export (Excel, CSV, SPSS) to facilitate further data processing.
Example answer options:
Internal values can be assigned for export:
The numbers will then appear in the export instead of the text responses. Internal values can be assigned at any time, either when creating the question or later.
Upload Image
You can place an image directly within the question.
Advantage: The image can be displayed between the question and the answer options, in addition to the standard image upload in the questionnaire.
Additionally, you can adjust the image’s orientation, set its position (above or below the question title), and assign an ALT attribute, which is important for survey accessibility.
Select Participants Specifically (Filter/Jump)
This feature allows you to guide participants through the survey using filters or jumps. This option becomes available only after you create the question. Save the question and then hover your mouse pointer over it—the “Filter” button will then appear.
